STOW, OH -The 4-Wheel & Off-Road Magazine staff developed a Mini M-T Shootout for 2010 that put five of the toughest 33-inch mud terrain tires on the market to the test and selected the Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ Radial as the clear winner. The results, featured in the June 2010 issue of 4-Wheel & Off-Road magazine published by Source Interlink Publications, indicates that the publication staff selected only five tires for the test and required that each tire be a mud-terrain tire, be available for 15-inch wheels, and be no wider than 13.50 inches with a suggested retail price under $300 per tire.

According to the article, in order for a tire to rate high in the list, the tire had to perform well in the mud. For this testing team, that meant that if the tire spun the mud out quickly, was easy to spin, laid down a nice footprint, and was fun to drive on, it scored high. After hours of "mud-whopping madness", the 4-Wheel & Off-Road team selected the Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ Radial as "the king of the pit."

"With over 40 years of off-road racing experience, Mickey Thompson has crafted some of the largest and most recognizable tires and wheels in the industry, so when the 33/12.50 Baja MTZ Radials showed up in our test, the legendary nameplate had a lot to live up to," said 4-Wheel & Off-Road Editor Ali Mansour in the article. "Though the tread pattern doesn’t look extremely aggressive for a pit master, it’s clear that Mickey Thompson’s mud-minded tire engineers did their homework when creating the pattern."
